Having a family is one of the most wonderful thing that can happen to a woman. But of course, you cannot expect that family life is a blissful and smooth ride all the time. As a family, we often come across the dilemma of budget shortage or sometimes exceeding within the budget. Most of the time, our main problem is how to spend for food. Therefore, we decided to buy raw food in the market within our 1500php budget instead of buying cooked ones. I think it’s cheaper though we need to spend time cooking. Thus, would lessen the chance to go out to buy food during the night.

As you know, I and my husband are both busy working that’s why we prefer to buy ready-to-eat food rather than to cook. But if buying raw food in the market and cooking are more practical, we’re open for it. Now, here are the things we were able to buy within the said budget. We bought them in Marikina Public Market while the others were bought in a store nearby our house. 🙂

  • 1 kg of pork – 195php
  • 1 whole chicken – 200php
  • beef (not sure if how many grams) – 145php
  • 1/2 kg tulingan (3 pcs.) – 60php
  • 3 kg of rice – 117php
  • 220g pork tocino, 250g beef tapa, 150g chicken nuggets, 1 canister of 6 pcs. ulam burger – 151php
  • 1 pack of cornick – 130 php
  • 1/4 kg sugar – 12php
  • fish sauce – 13php
  • Mang Tomas budget pack – 12php
  • 3 pcs. eggs – 20php
  • 3 pcs. kalamansi – 2php

TOTAL: 1, 057php

After buying and before going home, my husband got hungry so we bought merienda. Here’s the breakdown.

  • 1 order Angel’s burger – 26php
  • 2 bottles of mountain dew – 42php

TOTAL: 68php

I did not include our transportation expenses since I brought an exact amount for our fare back and forth. As you can see, we still have a remaining amount of 375php. I will use it to buy other ingredients needed for our cooking. I’ll ask my husband for a meal plan and hopefully I can share it with you as well. 🙂
